Common plating classifications are: electroless plating, electroplating, electroforming, vacuum plating, etc.
1. Electroplating is the process of depositing a metal or alloy on the surface of a workpiece by electrolysis to form a uniform, dense, and well-bonded metal layer.
2, common plating classification
(1) electroless plating (autocatalytic plating)
on the surface of the activated substrate, the metal in the plating solution The process by which ions are catalytically reduced to form a metal coating. This is a process engineering that is mostly involved in our process. Through such a process, it is possible to carry out post-plating and other processes, and it is often used as a pre-treatment process for plastic parts.
(2) Electroplating
The process of forming a uniform, dense, well-bonded metal or alloy deposit on the surface of the part by electrolysis. This process is cumbersome, but it has There are many advantages, such as the deposition of more types of metals, the variety of colors that can be obtained, and the relatively low price compared to similar processes.
(3) Electroforming
A process in which metal is deposited on a mold by electrolysis to produce or replicate a metal article that separates the mold from the metal deposit. This type of treatment is used when we require the final part to have a special surface effect such as a clear and distinct polishing and etching line or a special acute angle. Generally, the copper material is used as the shape of a part, and the plating process is adopted. The method deposits the alloy on the surface thereof, usually has a thickness of several tens of millimeters, and then cuts the cavity into a cavity of the mold, injects the plastic part, and the workpiece processed in the corner and several faces There will be special effects on the boundary, which meets the needs of the design. Generally, we can see that many of the high-gloss and etch-plated effects of electroplating have high quality requirements for plastic parts. As shown in the figure below, the edge-changing key sheet is manufactured by electroforming, which will achieve a good appearance.
(4)Vacuum plating
Vacuum plating mainly includes vacuum evaporation, sputter plating and ion plating, all of which are used under vacuum, by distillation or splashing. This method can be used to deposit various metal and non-metal films on the surface of plastic parts. In this way, a very thin surface coating can be obtained, and at the same time, it has the outstanding advantages of fast adhesion, but the price is also high, and the metal can be operated. Less type, generally used as a functional coating for higher grade products, for example as an internal shield.
3, the use of electroplating process:
(1) anti-corrosion
(2) protective decoration
(3) anti-wear
(4) Electrical performance: Provide conductive or insulating coating according to part work requirements
